RVA Rising is a strong coalition of cross-sector, cross-jurisdictional leaders working alongside everyday residents to translate our shared vision into collective action. We believe that our success should be seen and felt around the community as our strategic initiatives translate into a new way of life in the RVA region. Our policy agenda will reflect our own local culture so that we can make significant and courageous changes across every generation. Because the place we call home should be one where everyone feels welcome.

As we develop the work of RVA Rising, we will be focused on:

Convenings to spark community dialogue and input
Cross-sector alignment on key priorities
Data dashboard to track progress
Co-investment in anchor organizations and scalable solutions
Policy action plans that support economic mobility goals

How we are making a difference.

Our work is coming to life in real ways throughout the region. Action plans will be developed for each pillar of support and they will be introduced in phases. As they are added, you will have the opportunity to learn more about each pillar, where we are going, and what partners and initiatives are involved.

Inclusive Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods that offer affordable quality housing, an environment that is welcoming and respectful, and equitable access to local resources.

Rewarding Work

Jobs that provide reliable income for necessities and savings, opportunities to gain skills and experience, a sense of accomplishment, and a path for advancement.

Quality Education

Educational opportunities from preschool through adulthood that boost academic success, build social networks, and shape a positive sense of self and belonging.

Access to Health Care

Stable health and safety that help people surmount challenges, excel in school and work, ensure their families' well-being and fully participate in community life.

Responsive Governance

Local government that engages residents in collective decision-making, addresses concerns, allocates resources equitably, and acts with justice and empathy.

Achieving our goals means helping everyone in our region achieve economic mobility - improved economic stability for yourself and your family over the long term and over multiple generations.
